The real impact of the story
17:08Back on track! And the first thing I should do is find the book I will be actually working on! So, as I have done in my previous years of University I went to Amazon and searched for the precious book. I like to buy them there just because we are offered second hand books and, beside the issue of money (hey, we all look for cheap prices and saving money!) there is actually a better reason: giving books another opportunity! After we read them we tend to leave them forgotten on a shelf full of dust, alone and miserable, so what’s better that sell it for a good price and let other people enjoy it? Yay for human sharing!
Anyways, after buying it from an English bookstore, my expectation of the book was, as usual, a kind of shabby book, with yellow pages and a bit of dust within them. To my surprise, beside receiving this exact definition of a book, I found out that in the very first page, on the top right corner, there was a written, and quite personal, note! I will illustrate you with a picture of it:
For Gail, Christmas ‘92 with all my love Louise xxx. Isn’t … it .. cute?! Out of all the things I could expect about this book, certainly this is the most incredible detail I have ever seen. When I saw it, to be honest, I felt like a nostalgia about these people, Louise and Gail. It looks like a cute love movie in which a couple gives to each other their Christmas gifts and the woman actually sells her most precious book to her man, knowing both love it and that there is an important message between its pages. I am truly willing to start reading more about this novel, as it will make me go through two paths:
The story of the novel and its characters.
The wish of looking for the hidden message through the pages, see why was Written on the Body so important for Louise and Gail.
Now I am sure that, just like me, you want to start reading this book! One second, I am going to read the plot and coming...
OKAY WAIT. Can we take a moment to, or someone come and explain me why there's the name of Louise written in the plot as if she was the main character? Or why does it say 'She has translated me into her own book' without even thinking about Gail from the personal note actually saying this? Is the personal note just addressing each other with the names of the characters of the book because they felt so identified to do this? And hide themselves behind those Gail and Louise names? I am completely lost and anxious about this, it is a love story that actually identified some random couple from Christmas '92 and I can't anymore. I am leaving this here. For you to think. For me to take a moment before reading it and digest all of this. Will be back veeeeeeeery soon!
